Death of Mrs. J. L. Hurst

Mrs. J. L. Hurst died at her home on East Filmore street on Sunday, Feb. 24, as the result of leakage of the heart, at the age of 54 years.

Mrs. Hurst was Francis Lucinda Foster, a daughter of William Foster, born Jan. 26, 1867 at St. Charles. She was married March 12, 1898 at her home in Warren county to J. L. Hurst. Except for one year in South Dakota, their married life was spent in this vicinity. One son was born, Raymond, who survives, together with four brothers and two sisters: Elmer, Ellsworth, Frank, Walter, and Mrs. Maggie Thompson of Winterset; and Mrs. Luella Oleson of Oregon. Two children have gone on before.

She was a member of the Methodist church, and held in highest esteem and affection by a large circle of dear ones and friends. Her mother died, leaving a large family of children, in her mother’s place, she was a mother to the other children in the home.

The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. L. C. Cooley in the Methodist church Wednesday morning at ten o’clock and interment was in the St. Charles cemetery.
