Marlin Leon Johnston, 66, of Redfield passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 at the West Bridge Care Center in Winterset. Graveside memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. at the South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. Marlin Leon Johnston was born May 1, 1947, in Dexter, Iowa, to Willis and Maxine Ellison Johnston. He attended grade school in Redfield, Dawson, and LuVerne then they moved to Adel where he attended high school and he graduated with the class of 1965. While in high school he enjoyed shop, working with lumber and was very good at drawing and art. He also liked putting model cars together. After graduation he enlisted in the National Guard and then worked as a carpenter, carpet and tile layer for a few years then joined his father in farming for 25 years. They were named master pork producers in 1964. He liked music, deer hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father: Willis Johnston and grandparents: Eudora and William Johnston and Floyd Ellison and Helen Samson.
He leaves behind his mother Maxine Johnston of Redfield; sister: Gwen (Dennis) Day of Prescott; step-daughter Mari (Thad) White of Indianola; grandchildren: David White of Adel and Marissa White of Indianola and many nieces, nephews and cousins and a cat named "Digger".
