Neva Marie Sirdoreus, 85, of Norwalk, Iowa, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Joel Andrus officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be be Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to her family for a future designation.
Neva was born on April 23, 1928, at Nodaway, Iowa to James and Lela (Harrison) Herrick. She was married on Aug. 27, 1948, in Earlham, Iowa, to Roscoe “Rocky” Sirdoreus. She had spent most of her life living in Norwalk having been a sales clerk at the former Younkers Department Store in Des Moines, then doing janitorial work and helping in the kitchen at Norwalk High School. She also found time to be a homemaker. Neva had been a member of the Martensdale Community Church in Martensdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lela (Harrison) Herrick; and husband, Rocky Sirdoreus.
Neva is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Bill) Watkins of Norwalk, Sondra Battin of Norwalk and Betty Faith of Des Moines; brothers, Charles Herrick of Winterset, Paul Herrick of Perry, David Herrick of St. George, Utah, and Dean Herrick of Farmington; sister, Charlotte Drake of Creston; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
