Gloria Darlene Hildreth, 81, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Burial will be at Brethren Cemetery in Elkhart.

Darlene was born November 12, 1931 to Emory and Leota Ackelson in rural Madison County. She enjoyed being involved in Masonic activities through the years, where she was presented with two National Masonic Awards: The Companion of the Temple from the Grand Encampment Knights Templar of the U.S.A., and the General Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons International Sweetheart Award. She was also honored for her many charitable donations. In addition, Darlene enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Billy Joe; her son, Bryce (Natalie) Hildreth; her sisters: Josie (Al) Cramer, Lois Sawhill, and Marilyn (Mike) Hutton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Garland and Wayne Ackelson; and her sister Betty Edgington.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation in loving memory of Darlene.
