Rita Margret Winkel, 56, of Creston, died of cancer Thursday at home. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Crest Baptist Church in Creston, of which she was a member. Burial of the cremains will be at Peru Cemetery in Peru, Ia.

Ms. Winkel was born in Maryville, Mo., and had lived in Colorado 10 years before moving to Creston six years ago. She was a counselor in the health services field and had worked for Innovative in Creston. She was an artist and enjoyed antiques, attending auctions and being outdoors.

She is survived by three daughters, Rachel Barker, Christi Barker and Sherri Dann, all of Salem, Ore.; three brothers, Louis Lehmer of Waco, Texas, Jerry Lehmer of Des Moines and Thomas Lehmer of Winterset; five sisters, Delores Carney of St. Charles; Virginia Randall of Casey, Gwendolyn Lafferty of Creston, Linda Callison of Boulder, Colo., and Alberta Callahan of Council Bluffs, and three grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon today at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, where the family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m.
