Amil Henry Bales, son of David D. and Nettie E. Bales, was born September 13, 1907 at Winterset, Ia. Most of his life was spent in Winterset and Brooklyn.

He attended school in Winterset until coming to Brooklyn where he entered in the Brooklyn School. He was a freshman last year and was president of the class. Amil was a quiet boy, faithful to his home duties, always working and saving his money.

He died in the St. Francis hospital at Grinnell, Tuesday evening June 5th as a result of an automobile accident. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father, mother, three sisters, Helen, Madeline, and Betty and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church, Friday afternoon, June 8th, conducted by Rev. E. W. F. Holler, and assisted by Rev. W. J. Fowler, pastor of the Methodist church and Rev. J. Schechter, pastor of the Brethren church. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
