BERTHA REED, Winterset

August 3, 1931 - March 15, 2013

Bertha Reed, 81, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 20 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 19 at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be sent to the Foursquare Gospel Church, Winterset.

Bertha Louise Bailey was born August 3, 1931 in Madison County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Mae (Patton) Bailey. She was raised in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School in 1950.   She married Glenn Roy Reed on February 14, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa.  They were married 52 years and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2009.

Bertha was a homemaker raising her three sons and later worked at Younker’s Warehouse and EMC Insurance both in Des Moines. She was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church where she served years ago as church pianist. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and traveling but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Bertha is survived by two sons, Michael Reed (Launa) and Mark Reed (Sara) both of Winterset; six grandchildren (Sasha, Erin, Blake, Josie, Bailey, and Jonah) and three great-grandchildren (Kyle, Andrew and Olivia).

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David; daughter-in-law, Alice and three siblings, Mary Stalcup, Bill Bailey and Dorothy Parker.
