BETTY A. SAWYERS, Winterset

June 19, 1932 - March 14, 2013

Betty A. Sawyers, 80, of Winterset, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Winterset Care Center North. 
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19 at the First Christian Church in Winterset with burial to follow in the McDonald-Chase Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 18 at Ochiltree Funeral Service, where her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church and/or Middle River Hospice.
 
Betty Ann Smith was born June 19, 1932 in Madison County, Iowa to Earl and Elsie (Winkler) Smith.  She graduated from Winterset High School and later married Keith R. Sawyers on July 24, 1955 at the First Christian Church in Winterset.

Betty was a homemaker and farm wife helping to raise her children and manage the family farm. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Good Neighbor Club. She enjoyed gardening, was a great cook, but her greatest joys were her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Sawyers of Winterset; three sons, Doug (Ann) Sawyers of Indianola; Bruce (Diane) Sawyers of Winterset; Mark (Chris) Sawyers of Winterset; a brother-in-law, Wally Dick of Stuart; six grandchildren (Monica (Branden) Martin; Cathy Sawyers; Tara (Jared) McDonald; Kylee (Curtis) Barber and Erin and Brittany Sawyers); two great grandchildren (Andrew Martin and Sawyer McDonald); two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Irene Dick.
