Services for Hugh Amos Maine, 85, long-time resident of St. Charles who died Aug. 31, were held Thursday, Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in St. Charles. Officiating was the Rev. Chet Waterman and burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 28, 1897 at Wick to Lodrick L. Maine and Rachael England Maine. He was married Sept. 24, 1919 to Fern Thompson. He was married the second time to Ola B. Johnston on Sept. 24, 1968.
He had worked for Anderson-Erickson dairy until his retirement and belonged to the American Legion, being a World War I veteran. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at St. Charles.
Surviving are a son, Frank, and his wife, Barbara, of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Wheeler of Des Moines and Ella Nuzem of West Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and brothers, Enoch and Ralph.
