MARGARET "PEGGY" MERRIFIELD, Winterset

Peggy died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Norwalk Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Norwalk. She was 94.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare where family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Van Meter Cemetery, Van Meter.

Memorials may be made to Norwalk Nursing & Rehabilitation's Activity Fund.

Margaret Dorothy Baldwin was born October 11, 1918 in Des Moines; the daughter of William and Irene (Wirth) Baldwin. She graduated from East High School in 1937. She married Charles M. Merrifleld on December 31, 1937 and to this union two sons were born, Robert and Michael.

Peggy worked at Robinson Wholesale, Lindberry Binding, Iowa Investment and Ruan Transport. She liked to read, enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and traveling, which took her to almost every state. She also liked dogs, chocolate, old fashioned square dancing and round dancing as well as eating out and going to flea markets.

Peggy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Laraine Merrifield of Winterset; a sister, Irene Hellman of East Moline, IL; three grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and two step great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special friends, Myrtle Harvey of Des Moines and Dawn Francis of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her two sons and her step- father, John Gifford.
