Dorothy R. Gavin, 96, formerly of Des Moines died on Saturday, June 11, 2005. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Coats Funeral Home in Waterford, MI. Family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. and again after the service until 8 p.m. A private interment will take place in Hartman Cemetery in Truro, Iowa at a later date.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Gavin and the dear mother of Donna (Ron) Arnold of White Lake. She was the dearest sister of Robert (Lorene) Archer of AK and the late Willard Archer. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Archer; granddaughters, Katelin and Morgan Healey. Mrs. Gavin was a retired kindergarten teacher with the Des Moines Public Schools. She loved quilting and violets and was a member of the O.E.S. in Des Moines.

Memorial donations may be made to the Waterford Foundation for Public Education, Waterford, MI or Lourdes Nursing Home, Waterford, MI.
