Margaret Martin, 99, of Winterset died of complications of a stroke Wednesday at West Bridge Care Center there. The body was donated to Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center, and memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset, of which she was a member.

Mrs. Martin was born in Winterset and had lived in Louisville, Ky., before returning to Winterset in 1966. She was a school teacher in Patterson and had co-owned and operated Merrymobiles, an ice cream street vending business in Louisville, with her husband before retiring. She was a member of the Madison County Historical Society, the Winterset Library, Presbyterian Women and Esther Circle. She enjoyed crafts, playing bridge and being a volunteer for community service projects.

She is survived by a son, Michael G. of Winterset; a daughter, Meredith Burns of Davis, Calif.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, the Winterset Library or the Madison County Historical Society.
