Vera Elizabeth Thornhill Allen, 86, of Monticello, Ark., died of complications of a stroke May 22 at a hospital there. Burial of the cremains will be Saturday in Winterset. Mrs. Allen was born in Ashley County, Ark., and had lived in the Des Moines area until 1978. She was a retired pastry cook with the Des Moines school system. Stephenson-Dearman Chapel in Monticello handled arrangements.
