Mrs. Martha Young Dies at 93 Years

Mrs. Martha E. Young, a native of Winterset, died Feb. 22, at Indianola at the age of 93 years.

Mrs. Young was the former Martha Ellen Harlan. She was born in Winterset Dec. 26, 1871. On Oct. 4, 1887 she was married to Thornton Young. They were the parents of eight sons and four daughters. Her husband preceded her in death in 1929. Four children also preceded her in death. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Jessie Carpenter of Wilmington, Calif., Ida Young of near St. Charles, Mrs. Nettie Chamberlain and Mrs. Wilma Foley of Peru; four sons, Fred Young of St. Charles and Luther, Lloyd and Donald Young, all of Indianola. She also leaves 25 grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial in the Union Chapel cemetery were held last Friday.
