Willard Dale Simpson, 71, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Taylor House Hospice. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg, Iowa.
Willie was born May 13, 1941 to Dale and Beulah Simpson and for most of his childhood he lived in the Orient and Macksburg area and went to school at Macksburg and Greenfield.
He married Roberta Briley on November 29, 1959 in Creston, IA and to this union three children were born: Tonia, Scott and Bryan. He did some farming and became a plumber and owned his own plumbing business. He was divorced in 1976 and moved to Des Moines.
Willie divorced and remarried Katie Hayes. He moved to the Meadows Mobile Home Park and was employed there for 25 years. He loved country music, fishing, camping and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Katie; daughter, Tonia Montoya of Creston; son, Scott (Joann) Simpson of Bartlesville, OK; step-children, Linda Ward and James (Becky) Hayes, both of Kansas City; sister, Catherine (Joe) Drake of Winterset, IA; brother, Dick (Terri) Simpson of Mount Ayr, IA; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryan; and two sisters, Jean Bailey and Wanda Scott.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Willie's family.
