Dec. 8, 1924 - Feb. 22, 2013Lillian Margaret Kerr was born to Lars and Altona Langlo on December 8, 1924 in Chicago, Ill. She spent her growing up years on Grace Street helping her mom care for her large family of brothers and sisters. When she entered the workforce, she worked downtown Chicago at Montgomery Ward commuting on the bus every day.
She met Deane Kerr soon after and on October 21, 1946 they were married. In 1949, soon after their first son was born, Deane took his big city bride to the little town of St. Charles, Iowa where she learned how to be a small town girl doing such things as using an outhouse, milking a cow and priming the pump for water. And she gave birth to two more sons.
Lillian returned to the work force as the boys grew and worked as a bookkeeper for the Challenger Camper Manufacturers in St. Charles and later for Gifford Brown in Des Moines until her retirement.
A few years after her retirement Lillian moved to an apartment in Winterset to live closer to her family. She became an active part of Oak Grove Community Church until she was no longer able to attend. Last July she moved into Winterset Care Center South where she resided at the time of her death on Friday, February 22, 2013.
Lillian was 88 years old.
Lillian is survived by her sons Terry Kerr and wife Pam of Winterset and Dan Kerr and wife Diane of Andover, Minnesota; Grandchildren Noel, Troy, Eric, Tyler, John, Heather, Jennifer and Erin; 20 great grandchildren with another soon to be born plus 3 great-great grandchildren; One sister Alice Donnelly; Brothers Lars, Arnold, and Kenneth; and sister in law Carol.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Deane; son Randy; grandson Brice; brothers Art, Leonard, William, Fred, and Robert; and a sister Bernice.
