ROBERT MILLER McGEE

Bob McGee Dies Suddenly At His Home Friday At Noon

The death of Bob McGee, well known young business man and senior member of the firm of McGee Brothers, jewelers, at noon cast a shadow of gloom over the city Friday and brought sorrow to the entire citizenry.

Although he had been a sufferer from a leaking heart for several months and was confined to his home since Saturday, it was believed Friday morning that his condition was improved until just a few moments before the end came. Members of the family barely had time to reach his bedside after the last severe attack before he passed away. The sudden death proved a severe shock to the family and friends.

Bob McGee came to Blackwell with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McGee when yet a lad and has grown to manhood here. When his father retired from business several years ago Bob and his brother Fred took over the business and he became even more closely identified with the town he has seen grow from a village into a small city. Held in the highest esteem by the citizenship of both town and county, his untimely death will bring sorrow to a host of friends through northern Oklahoma.

Surviving are the father and mother and brother.

FUNERAL SERVICE AT McGEE HOME AT 3 O'CLOCK TODAY

The funeral service for Robert Miller McGee will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the J. M. McGee home, 802 West Bridge with Rev. J. T. Ogle in charge of the religious service. The body will be laid to rest at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Masonic honors.

Robert Miller McGee was born January 15, 1891, at Winterset, Iowa, died January 11, 1924. His early childhood was spent at Cherokee, Iowa, coming to Blackwell with his parents in 1906. He graduated from the Blackwell high school in 1909 as president and salutatorian of his class. Following his graduation he went into the store with his father and worked until January 1, 1920, when he and his brother, Fred, took over the business.

Robert McGee was prominent as a member of the Elks lodge, serving at one time as Exalted Ruler. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and Shriner.

The death Friday at noon was very sudden, for when friends called to see him just a few moments before 12 he was feeling fine and was expecting to be able to come down town in a few days.
