Dyle Carter Dies After Long Illness

Death Occurred on Sunday at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines

Dyle J. Carter, a resident of Winterset most of his life died Sunday, July 15, at Veterans hospital in Des Moines. He was 44 years of age. His death followed an extended illness.

Mr. Carter was born in Winterset, Feb. 4, 1918, a son of Jesse and Iva Oller Carter. During World War II he served in the U.S. navy, receiving a medical discharge after being seriously injured in the South Pacific.

He had become a member of the Lutheran church in Topeka, Kansas. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Iva Carter of Winterset; a daughter, Janice V. Carter of Topeka, Kan., and a sister, Mrs. Ameda Harrison of Evergreen, Colorado.

Funeral services were held from the Collins Funeral Home Monday evening, in charge of the Rev. R. L. Lehman, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran church in Winterset. Burial was made with military honors in the Winterset cemetery Tuesday.
