Page 4Mrs. Ethel Miller Dies in California
Mrs. Ethel Miller, formerly a well-known Winterset resident, died this past week end at the Presbyterian home in Glendale, Calif.
Among the survivors are sons, Eldridge Miller of New York City, and Keith Miller of California, a sister Jeannette Beck of Glendale, and a brother, John Beck of Winterset.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge Miller were to arrive here this Wednesday evening with Mrs. Miller’s ashes. There will be a graveside service this Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Winterset cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel B. Miller, formerly of Winterset, were held May 20 from the Wee Kirk O’ the Heather, Forest Lawn, in Glendale, Calif. The ashes were returned to Winterset for burial in the Winterset cemetery Thursday, May 23.
Mrs. Miller’s death had occurred Saturday, May 18, at the United Presbyterian home in Glendale, Calif., where she had lived recently. She was 80 years of age and had resided with her sister, Miss Jeanette Beck until her health failed.
Mrs. Miller was the former Ethel Beck, daughter of James G. and Mary Thomson Beck. She was born in Jackson township and spent her early life in Madison county and Winterset.
She was married to Walter O. Miller, and they were parents of two sons. The husband died in 1916.
From 1928 to 1934 she was employed as a housemother at Grinnell college in Grinnell. From 1934 until 1948 she served as director of the Law Commons at the State University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Mrs. Miller is survived by the two sons, Eldredge Miller of New York City and Keith Miller of Costa Mesa, Calif; a granddaughter, Adelle Miller of Costa Mesa; a brother, John C. Beck of Winterset; and one sister, Jeannette E. Beck of Glendale Calif.
