Retired Farmer Died This Sunday; Funeral Held Tuesday
Albert W. Johnson, a resident of Madison county during most of his life, died Sunday, Feb. 24, at his home in Des Moines. He was 81 years of age.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Kansas, where he was born in Barton county on July 7, 1881, a son of Samuel B. and Victoria Hoisington Johnson. He came to Madison county with his parents when he was 4 years of age, and spent his active life in this community, engaged in farming. He retired in 1947 and moved to Des Moines.
He was married at Winterset in 1913 to Eva M. Hamilton, who survives him. He also leaves a daughter Mrs. Orval Simmerman of Winterset, and a son Lyle D. Johnson of Charleston, S. C.
He also leaves five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Byron H. Johnson and Lester C. Johnson, both of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Taylor of Medford, Ore. and Mrs. Clark Simmons of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of Rev. John Latta, pastor of the Ft. Des Moines Methodist Church. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
