Frank Wasson Dies at 56 Years

Death Occurred Wednesday Following Surgery at Rochester

Frank E. Wasson, well known Winterset resident for most of his life, died last Wednesday, Sept. 18, at a hospital in Rochester. He was 56 years of age.

Mr. Wasson was born in Winterset May 8, 1907, a son of G. J. and Iva Boyles Wasson. His early life was spent in this community, but the family moved to Braddyville, where he graduated from high school. He returned to Winterset as a young man and lived the remainder of his life here.

He was employed as a meat cutter in Winterset during most of his life here, and for the past 15 years had managed the meat department at the Easter Food store.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy; and he was a member of the American Legion here.

Mr. Wasson was married Aug. 5, 1934, to Berline Ellis of Winterset, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Gary Wasson, who is serving with the U.S. Air Force at Mountain Home, Idaho; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Wasson of Winterset; and two brothers, Earl Wasson of Des Moines and Jay Wasson of Indianola.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in charge of the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery with military honors by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
