Des Moines Rites for Donald Beem

Donald Beem of Des Moines, formerly of Winterset, died Thursday, June 5, at Hill Haven Medicenter nursing home in Des Moines at the age of 65. He had lived in Des Moines for the past 32 years.

Born on Sept. 27, 1914, in Winterset, he was the son of Walter and Sarah Wright Beem. He was a retired custodian for the Des Moines Public Schools and a member of the Bethany Open Bible Church.

Survivors include a stepson, William Thomas Hodge Jr. of Des Moines; a brother, Francis of Winterset; three sisters, Mary Crawford and Gladys Callison, both of Winterset, and Lillian Comstock of Des Moines; and a stepgrandson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Merle Hay Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
