Funeral services for Alice M. Thomas, a long-time resident of the Macksburg community, were held Monday, July 14, at 3 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
Mrs. Thomas died Saturday, July 12, at Care Center North here. She was 85 years of age.
A daughter of Frances A. Farmer McKeever and Joshua McKeever, she was born June 27, 1894, at New Sharon, Iowa.
She was married to Harry M. Thomas at Brooklyn, Iowa, on Feb. 20, 1912. Most of her lifetime was spent in Madison county.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel Church, and later transferred to the Macksburg Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond of Van Meter, Claire of Des Moines; and Donald H. of Winterset; four daughters, Lois Foster of Mountain View, California, Doris Blank of Anaheim, Calif., Arlene Nixon of Butte, Montana, and Shirley Harris of Jacksonville, Florida; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Lawrence M. Thomas of Macksburg; two brothers and one sister.
Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Scott Grotewold. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
