Arthur “Art” Criss, 81, of Shingle Springs, Calif., died Jan. 10, 2013.

Memorial services were held at the El Dorado County Veterans’ Memorial Hall in Placerville, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 2. In lieu of flowers a donation be made in his name to the Snowline Hospice (6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619), the VFW or the charity of your choice. His final internment will be in the Bellevue Pioneer Cemetery in Bellevue, Neb.

Arthur Earle Criss was born in Lorimor, Iowa, on March 23, 1931, to David Howard Criss and Flossie Barr Criss. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1949 and joined the Navy in 1950. Art served during the Korean Conflict and Desert Storm. Although having several different careers, he best loved serving in the military, especially in aviation. Art ultimately made a career of the military and retired in 1993. During his military career, he served in the Navy, Army, Air Force and National Guard.

Art was the beloved husband of 57 years to Barbara (Boots) Criss. He also leaves three children, Sue Ann, Colleen and Dave; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Janice; two sons-in-law, Jerry and Raymond; and many other family members and friends.
