Burial For Alverda DeLong
Funeral services for Mrs. Alverda Ester DeLong, 82, of Winterset were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery. Mrs. DeLong died Saturday, June 16, at Villa West.
Born on June 14, 1897 in Ohio Township, she was the daughter of George Wesley and Mary Frances Garst Hogue. She was married to Lawrence R. DeLong on September 9, 1914 in Winterset.
A lifetime resident of Winterset, Mrs. DeLong was a 4-H leader and a member of the Fellowship Church Circle and Farm Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, a sister, and three grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; two daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Hope and Mrs. Geneva Addy, both of Winterset; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
