Page 5Maurice Coghlan Died At Age 62
Maurice Wesley Coghlan, 62, died Wednesday, May 10, 1978, at Veteran’s Hospital in Des Moines. He was a resident of Winterset born to Arnold Edgar and Frona Lilley Coghlan on November 8, 1915, in Peru.
Mr. Coghlan was a retired quarry worker and lived in Winterset 30 years after his move from Peru. He was a graduate of Peru High School and a member of the VFW. During World War II he served in five separate campaigns, including North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Southern France and Germany.
Survivors include three brothers, Marion of Winterset, Lowell of Johnson City, Kansas, Curtis of Creston and a sister, Rosemary Adams of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Bernice, and a brother, Edgar Roland Coghlan.
Mr. Coghlan was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held from the Winterset First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, with burial at the Winterset Cemetery. Rev. Byron Ayers officiated. Military graveside services were observed.
