George Pilmer Services Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset for George W. Pilmer, 84, who died Saturday, April 23, 1977, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 1, 1893, in Red Rock, Iowa.

The son of Robert E. and Mary Jane Weed Pilmer, Mr. Pilmer was a resident of Villa West Care Center at the time of his death. He was a retired farmer. His marriage to Helen Pearl Cameron took place April 2, 1913, in Winterset.

Mr. Pilmer was affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church. He was a former resident of Red Rock and Brookings, South Dakota.

Survivors include a son, Robert Pilmer of Winterset; two daughters, Mary Alice Winters of Fresno, California and Ruth Newbury of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on March 12, 1961, and his parents and a brother.

Rev. Alan Parker officiated at Mr. Pilmer’s funeral Tuesday. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
