Asa Smith Funeral Here

A native of Rhode Island, living in Madison County since 1921, Asa E. Smith died Thursday, April 21, 1977, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 80 years of age.

Born May 20, 1896, in North Foster, Rhode Island, Asa Smith was the son of Henry and Ada Smith. He was married to Alfreda Keyport on February 18, 1923, in Packard, Iowa. She preceded her husband in death on October 1, 1976.

A minister and a carpenter during his life, Mr. Smith was affiliated with the Church of Latter Day Saints, an active member of that denomination.

Survivors include two nieces, Ethel S. Smith of Hastings, Michigan and Dorothy B. West of East Killingly, Connecticut; and one nephew, Clayton W. Brooks of East Greenwich, Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his wife, Alfreda.

Funeral services for Asa Smith were conducted Saturday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, Elder Patrick Edgington officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset cemetery.
