Wednesday, February 16, 1977Mrs. Smith 69, Dies in Florida
Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Carleton D. Smith, aged 69, at their winter home in Naples, Florida on Wednesday, January 19th. Mr. and Mrs. Smith have visited Winterset several times, the last when they flew back here for the funeral services of his mother, Mrs. Sam C. (Myrtle) Smith, two years ago.
Mr. Smith was a native of Winterset and his wife grew up in Washington, D. C. and was a graduate of George Washington University in Washington. She was active in the symphony there and from 1962 to 1968 was the director of the Prevention of Blindness Society. She was also a member of the Women’s Board of George Washington University.
Mr. Smith is a former vice president of RCA corporation and NBC television and radio. They have spent their summers in their home at Cape Cod and winters in Florida.
Services for Mrs. Smith were held Saturday, January 22nd at the Episcopal Church in Naples and burial services will be in the Winterset Cemetery at a later date.
