Van Meter Services for Mrs. Hazen

Stella Hazen, 91, daughter of Charles and Della Sweezy, died Sunday, November 14, 1976, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was born April 26, 1885, on a farm north of Van Meter.

A 1905 graduate of Van Meter High School, Mrs. Hazen was affiliated with the United Brethren Church and held membership in the Rebecca Lodge and Pricilla Club. Her marriage to Charles E. Hazen took place January 22, 1907.

The Hazens moved from Van Meter in 1908 to a farm 3 ½ miles south of there where they lived for 53 years. They retired in 1962 and returned to Van Meter. Mrs. Hazen resided for the last five years with her daughter, Mrs. Roy Hubbard, and at Madison Manor North Nursing Home.

Survivors include four children, Mrs. Roy (Mary) Hubbard, Webster City, Iowa; John and Bob of Van Meter; and Carl Hazen of Monterey Park, California. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hazen was preceded in death by her husband (1963), one daughter, Mrs. Ira (Helen) Piercy, one great granddaughter, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services for Stella Hazen were conducted Wednesday, November 17, at 1:30 p.m. from the United Methodist church of Van Meter, with burial at Chapel Cemetery.
