Services for Lorna Smith

A 70-year-old resident of Macksburg, Lorna Mae Smith, the wife of Clifford H. Smith, died Wednesday, November 17, 1976, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in Clarke County, Iowa, on September 13, 1906, the daughter of DeLoss Slone and Erma Short Slone.

The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Smith took place December 25, 1926 at the Methodist Church in Winterset. Mrs. Smith was employed as a schoolteacher and also a bookkeeper at the Macksburg Locker. Her residence in Madison County extended over 50 years.

Surviving Mrs. Smith is her husband, Clifford, of Macksburg; one son, Darwin D. Smith of Norwalk; one daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Max Binning) of Grand River; four brothers, Hale Slone of Portland, Oregon, Olin Slone of Des Moines, Lloyd Slone of Reeding, Minnesota and Diamond Slone of Culver City, California; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Lorna Mae Smith were conducted Saturday, November 20, at 1:30 p.m. from the Macksburg Methodist Church, Rev. John Ackerman officiating. Burial was made at the Moon Cemetery, Macksburg.
