Truro Service for Pickens

Funeral services for Robert Pickens, 54, were held last Saturday afternoon from the Kale Funeral home in Truro.

Mr. Pickens died April 6, enroute from his home in Truro to a hospital. He was an employee of the Natural Gas Pipeline compressor station near Truro.

A son of Sam and Zelpha Corsbie Pickens, he was born April 26, 1921 at St. Charles. He attended the Peru schools, and on Dec. 30, 1945 was married to Mildred Robshaw. She died in 1964.

On June 11, 1966, he was married to Loraine Clark. Mr. Pickens was a member of the V.F.W. post in Winterset.

Surviving in addition to his wife Loraine, are his parents of Peru; one brother, Berdean Pickens of Peru; a sister, Frances Cleveland of Texarkana, Ark.; two step-daughters Myrna Horner of Nebraska City, Nebr. and Phyllis Decker of Peru; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, and a granddaughter, Michelle Lea.

Officiating at the funeral service Saturday was the Rev. David Wagner of Truro. Burial was in the Peru cemetery.

Robert Pickens, Truro, Dies

Robert Thomas Pickens, 54, a resident of Truro, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Winterset Hospital on Tuesday, April 6. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10, from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. David Wagner of Truro officiating at the 2 p.m. services. Interment was in the Peru cemetery.

Robert Thomas Pickens was born April 26, 1921, in St. Charles, Iowa, son of Sam Pickens and Zelpha Corsbie Pickens. He attended schools at Peru, Iowa, and on December 30, 1945, he was married to Mildred Robshaw. On June 11, 1966, he was married to Loraine Clark in Orient, Iowa. He was employed by the Natural Gas Pipeline Company and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Winterset.

Survivors include his wife, Loraine of Truro; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pickens of Truro; brother, Berdean Pickens of Peru; sister, Frances Cleveland of Texarkana, Arkansas; step-daughter, Myrna Horner of Nebraska City, Nebraska; step-daughter, Phyllis Decker of Peru; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred, in 1964 and one granddaughter, Michelle Lea.
