Death Here of Loraine Iames

A teacher and housewife, who spent most of her life in Madison County, Loraine Iames, 67, died Sunday, February 29, 1976 at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Iames was born July 14, 1908 in Inman, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank D. Ross and Myrtle Love. Her marriage to Jesse Iames of Wellman, Iowa, took place in 1951. He preceded here in death in 1968.

A resident of Macksburg during her childhood, Mrs. Iames graduated from Macksburg high school in 1926. She attended Simpson College and the Iowa State Teachers’ College, teaching in the Macksburg community and Madison County schools.

Mrs. Iames worked for the Des Moines Children’s Home in Des Moines for three years from 1948. She served as the librarian in Wellman, Iowa, after her marriage. Returning to Winterset in 1968, Mrs. Iames had been employed by the Good Bakery and most recently for the Arcade Hotel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellman.

Mrs. Iames was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, John Ross of Macksburg.

Survivors include two step-children, Mrs. Joe King of Wellman and Mrs. Lester Yoder of Denver, Colo. and seven step-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Russell Ross of Santa Maria, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Elton (Fern) King of Winterset and an uncle, Clarence Love of Winterset.

Funeral services for Loraine Iames were conducted Tuesday, March 2, at 1:30 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Winterset, the Rev. Phill Hall presided. Burial was made at the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg with graveside services by Hawthorne Rebekah Lodge No. 350 of Macksburg.
