Lillian Haney Death at 89

A lifetime resident of Madison County, Lillian Potter Haney, died Saturday, March 20, 1976 at Villa West Care Center in Winterset. She was 89 years of age.

Born February 7, 1887, Mrs. Haney was the daughter of Christopher C. Yoder and Minnie C. Benge. Her marriage to Roy Potter took place March 7, 1906. Mr. Potter died October 1, 1928. She later married Dennis Haney, who died March 30, 1955.

A housewife and affiliated with the Methodist Church in Patterson, Mrs. Haney was a resident of both the Patterson and Winterset communities.

Surviving Mrs. Haney are four children, Doris Ray of Laguna Hills, Calif., Dale Potter of Burbank, Calif., Jack Potter of Glendale, Calif. and Shirley Wildin of Winterset.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three step-children, Elsie Post, Paul Haney and Howard Haney.

Mrs. Haney was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, Harry F. Yoder and Fred E. Yoder and a sister, Lorena Barr.

Funeral services for Lillian Potter Haney were conducted Tuesday, March 23, 1976 at 10:30 a.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, the Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.

She was an honorary member of the United Methodist Church of Patterson and the Winterset Women’s Christian Temperance Union.
