A resident of Madison County over 70 years, Carrie Sophia Brown died Tuesday, January 6, 1976 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was 76 years old.

A housewife, Mrs. Brown was born August 2, 1899, in Madison County to Charles E. Huglin and Sophia Schmidt. She moved to Winterset in 1941.

The marriage of Carrie Brown to George Brown took place May 1, 1923, in St. Charles, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 1, 1965.

Mrs. Brown was affiliated with the Blair Chapel in Patterson and was a member of Rebecca Lodge. She was past Noble Grand in December, 1948.

Surviving Carrie Brown are four brothers, Andrew Huglin of Winchester, Virginia, Henry Huglin of Omaha, Neb., Carl Huglin of Los Angeles, Calif., August Huglin of Winterset and one sister, Daisy Conway of Whittier, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Carrie Sophia Brown were conducted Friday, January 9, 1976 at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating. Rebecca services were observed.

Burial was made at Blair Chapel Cemetery, Madison County.
