Mary Winifred Pope,94 of Humboldt, formerly of Winterset, passed away December 7, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Mary Winifred Powers, the daughter of John Harry Hylton and Jesse Blanche (Weeks) Powers, was born October 8, 1918 on the family farm in Monroe Township, Madison County, Iowa. She attended school in Macksberg and Lorimer. She was united in marriage to Elmer Pope and the couple farmed together until their retirement. Following their retirement, the couple made their home in Winterset. In 2011, Mary moved to Humboldt. She passed away at the Paula Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge on the morning of December 7, 2012.

Mary enjoyed helping with the farming operations and loved caring for her flowers. She was very interested in genealogy. Mary is survived by her son, John Paul Pope; her daughter, Mary Strachan; and her four grandchildren, Leia Morris, Lee Pope, Ryan Strachan, and Sean Strachan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elmer Pope.
