Glen Conklin Died Thursday

James Glen Conklin, a resident of Winterset since 1961, died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines last Thursday, December 12. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Conklin was born at Blencoe in Monona County on March 6, 1902, the son of James and Hester Cecil Conklin.

He was married to Ethel David at Denver, Colorado on October 12, 1926, and preceded in death by her on July 26, 1952.

He was married to Elsie Staley on November 15, 1952, and was preceded in death by her on May 11, 1965. He later was married to Rebecca Francis on October 7, 1968, and is survived by her.

Mr. Conklin, a retired farmer, had also worked as a gas station attendant.

Besides his wife, Rebecca, he is survived by a daughter, Darlene Henricks of Thayer; and a stepson, Jack Francis of Fremont, California. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; a brother, Lee Conklin of Des Moines and two sisters, Isabel Carron of Burlington and Faye Girard of San Mateo, California.

In addition to his first two wives, Mr. Conklin was preceded in death by ----- brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 16, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Jack Borum officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
