Ivan Charles Young (Ike), 80, was born November 12, 1932 to Hugh and Ida Lucille Young in St. Charles, Iowa. He was born on the family farm. Ivan passed away December 30, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Ave. in Clive, Iowa, where the family will greet friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service time on Thursday. Cremation rites will follow the service and private committal services at the Masonic Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Ivan married JoAnn Aubert in 1950, and to this union was born three sons, Rick, Denny and Lonny. In 1964, he married Janine Kalny. Ivan was the owner/manager of Advanced Maintenance Service for 20 years. He was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs and played baseball in high school. Ivan's hobby was restoring old Jeeps and he loved country music.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janine; brother, Wayne Young (Micky) of St. Charles, Iowa; his children, Rick Young (Caryn), Denny Young (Theresa), Lonny Young, Nancy Kalny-Greenman (Ed), and David Kalny (DeeDee); grandchildren, Christina Young, Carrie Young, Neil Young (Stacy), Joy Lee Young, Angelia Prater (Ben), Megan Kalny, Jennifer DeFord, Julie Sieck (Jon), Nicholas Walker, Hunter Kalny, Jacob Kalny, Austin Kalny, Tyler Shiels, Brandon Shiels, Heather Thompkins, and Eddie Thompkins; 16 great- grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Heidi. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; four sisters; daughter, Sherry Lee (Kalny) Walker and best buddies, Eddie "Blackie" Gilmore, Stewart Framness and Cliff Norris.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Clive, Iowa.
