ETHEL BERRY - Winterset

Ethel Berry, 85, of Winterset, Iowa, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, January 4, 2013, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.

Ethel was born on November 12, 1927, at Madison County, Iowa to Harlan and Mabel (Allen) Benge. She was married on June 29, 1947 at Seneca, Kansas, to George Cecil Berry and to this union were born two children. She had been a lifetime resident of Madison County and was always known as being a hard worker, no matter what the task was. Ethel had been a homemaker, a cook at the Winterset Community School System for over 20 years, a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary for over 60 years (helping in all aspects of the V.F.W. Hall functions), and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Ethel is survived by her husband, George Berry of Winterset; daughter, Nancy Wiemann of Winterset; daughter-in-law, Sandra Berry; brothers, Herbert Benge, Harry Benge, William Benge, and Delbert Benge; sisters, Eileen Long, Gloria Stanley, Shirley Lewis, Eleanor Rhoads, Victoria Murra, and Mary Thornburg; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Patti) Wiemann, Gregory (Lori) Wiemann, and Ryan (Amy) Berry; and great grandchildren, Devin, Kristopher, Morgan, Lacy, Caleb, Brenden, Jocelyn, and Masen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Mabel (Allen) Benge; son, Bill Berry; son-in-law, Mike Wiemann; sister, Emily Coghlan; and granddaughter, Jennifer Wiemann.

Memorials may be given to her family for a future designation.
