Cooper Rites Held August 1st
Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon, August 1 from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset for Charles William Cooper of rural Winterset.
Mr. Cooper died at his farm home on July 29. He was 81 years of age.
A son of Joseph and Margaret Thornburg Cooper, he was born in Madison County on May 7, 1892.
A retired farmer, he was a life-time resident of this county.
On December 24, 1914, he was married to Mary M. Cumming in Winterset. She preceded him in death on January 3, 1964.
Mr. Cooper was a member of the Foursquare Church.
He is survived by one son, Charles Leroy Cooper of Winterset; one daughter, Mrs. Cleo Post of Winterset; two brothers, Roy Cooper of Winterset and Henry Cooper of Melcher; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Faux of St. Charles, Mrs. Opal Huddleson of Winterset and Mrs. Gertrude Kline of Hiawatha, Kansas; also six grandchildren and --- great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, three daughters, three sisters and one brother.
Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Charles Updike. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
