Page 1James Brittain Dies in Crash
James W. Brittain, 26, of Van Meter, was fatally injured about 4 a.m. Saturday when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another car on Highway 169, about a mile south of Adel. He died enroute to the hospital.
The young man was a former resident of Madison county, having attended school in Winterset, Earlham, DeSoto and Adel. Born in Glendale, Calif., practically all his life had been spent in Madison and Dallas counties.
A son of Joseph C. and Lois Clark Brittain, he was born in Glendale Aug. 5, 1946. He graduated from Adel High school with the class of 1964, and enlisted in the U.S. army in 1965, serving 18 months in Vietnam.
He is survived by his parents; and by two brothers, Clark Brittain of DeSoto and Jason Brittain of Adel.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Fisher Funeral home in Adel. Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery in Madison county.
