Gladys (Mrs. Herbert) Garrett died Thursday, May 31, at the Creston Manor Nursing Home in Creston.

Daughter of Jake and Candace Fee Myers, she was born in 1894 on the farm nine miles north of Winterset which is now owned by Leland Hindman. In 1915 she married Herb Garrett of Winterset and in 1921 they moved to Tulsa, Okla. where they lived until 1936 when they returned to Iowa so that Gladys could care for her mother who lived in the Kale Apt. Bldg.

Since 1944 her home had been in Creston where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970, and by three brothers, Charley, Carl and Roy Myers.

Among the surviving relatives are her sister, Mabel Oldham of Winterset, a brother-in-law, E. C. (Bill) Garrett of Creston, a nephew, John Oldham of Des Moines, and a niece Lucille Porter of Covina, Calif.

Services for Mrs. Garrett were held Monday, June 4, at Coen’s Home for Funerals in Creston, with burial at the Fairview cemetery north of Winterset.
