Rites Held For Grover Fenimore

Services were held Tuesday, August 24, for Grover A. Fenimore of Peru. Mr. Fenimore died at his home there at the age of 77.

He was born in Scott Township on September 22, 1893. His parents were Anderson and Martha Sawhill Fenimore.

Mr. Fenimore received his education in Madison County schools. He married Rae Josephine Hoover on November 7, 1914, in Winterset.

He devoted his lifetime to the occupation of farming in this county. He was affiliated with the Methodist church at Peru.

Among surviving relatives are his wife, Rae, and eight children: Mrs. Fon Porter of Truro, Roger Fenimore of Mitchellville, Paul Fenimore of Ephrate, Washington, Mrs. Leroy Hagen of Des Moines, Jerry K. Fenimore of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sidney Fenimore of Fountain Valley, California, Billy Fenimore of Chicago, and Jay Fenimore of Des Moines. Five sisters and two brothers also survive, including Mrs. Clyde Youmans of Peru, Mrs. Flossie Herweke of Norwalk, Mrs. Verdie Adams of Winterset, Mrs. Velsie Street of Osceola, Mrs. Mary Mesner of Arlington, Virginia, Byron Fenimore of Peru, Clair Fenimore of Peru, 27 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kale Funeral Home at Truro, with the Rev. Richard Hempenius presiding. Burial was in the Peru cemetery.
