Jim was born Aug. 16, 1937, to Kermit and Edna (Bennett) Creswell at the family house in rural Adair County. He attended country school until the eighth grade. He graduated from Earlham High School with the class of 1956. On Feb. 1, 1959, he married Janice Stever at the Webster Methodist Church in Madison County. This union brought them three children: Renee, James and Heather.
Jim owned and operated his own trucking business for over 40 years. He was an excellent mechanic and could advise on the best travel routes anywhere in the country. He made efforts to haul loads to areas his children were living and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed travelling, camping and boating and taking in a live music show. He was always there with a joke and quick wit.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson: Nicholas James Creswell.
Left behind to celebrate his life is his loving wife of 53 years Janice Creswell of Earlham; children: Renee Creswell (Rusty Agte) of Tucson, Ariz., James Creswell (Chris) of Bristow, Va., Heather Creswell (Matt Moore) of Des Moines; grandchildren: Lance Edwards of San Diego, Calif., Lauren Edwards of Tucson, Ariz., Dillon and Garrett Creswell of Bristow, Va.; brother: Kenneth Creswell of Dexter and a host of other family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
