Walker Huffman Dies at 76 Years

Walker G. Huffman, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Friday, April 9, at his farm home in Webster township, where he lived alone. The death was not discovered until the following Tuesday.

Mr. Huffman was 76 years of age. He was born in Madison county Nov. 10, 1894, a son of George and Nancy Duffield Huffman. His life was spent in farming.

During World War I he served in the US armed forces. He was a member of the Methodist church, and a 50-year member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

As a young man Mr. Huffman was married to Marie Greenfield, who preceded him in death. He later married Louise Schulz McCaslen. Her death occurred in 1961.

Surviving are a son, George E. Huffman of Norman, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Weaver of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Mrs. Wanda Gray of Phoenix, Ariz.; two step-children, Mrs. Mabel Short of Greenfield and Ronald McCaslen of Van Meter; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. -------- Lienemann and Mrs. Esther Hammond of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery with military honors by the Green Rogers post of the American Legion.
