Helen Pearl Schoonover Peterson, 86, died Friday, December 14, 2012 in Winterset, Iowa. Helen was born on May 28, 1926 to Hazel and Earl Schoonover in Union County, Iowa. She was married to Oren E. Peterson on November 27, 1945 in Winterset, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Oren E. at the VA Home in Marshalltown, Iowa; two daughters, Nancy (Mel) Simmons and Louise (Basil) Christofilis; three sons, Oren Jr. (Cathy), Denny (Lynne), and Philip (Paula); eleven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Elinor Rankin; two aunts, Mildred Bek and Mary Fife. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dale Schoonover; and three grandchildren.
Per her wishes, no services are being held. A private burial will be held by the immediate family only at a later date.
