Vern B. Shutt of Truro Dies

Funeral services were held Feb. 1 from the Kale Funeral home in Truro for Vern B. Shutt whose death had occurred in his home at Truro on Jan. 29.

Mr. Shutt was 67 years of age at his death. He was a life-long resident of the Truro community, having been born in Warren county Feb. 12, 1903, a son of Henry D. and Effie Strawn Shutt. His life was spent in farming.

He was married July 18, 1940 to Helen Boren Jones, who survives him.

He was a member of the Broadhorn church and of the Farm Bureau.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Ivan Shutt of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Truro and Mrs. Bernice Bruce of Denver, Colo.; his mother, Mrs. Effie Shutt of Indianola; five grandchildren; two brothers, Clee Shutt of Prole and Glen Shutt of Phoenix, Ariz., and a sister Garnetta Shutt of Los Angeles, Calif.

The Rev. Cecil Murros of Des Moines and the Rev. Lloyd Miller of Truro conducted the funeral services. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Vern Shutt, 67, Dies Friday

Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, for Vern Bryan Shutt, 67, who died at his home in Truro, Iowa, January 29. The Rev. Cecil Murrow of Des Moines and Rev. Lloyd Miller of St. Charles conducted the 2 p.m. services from the Kale Funeral Home at Truro.

Vern Bryan Shutt was born February 12, 1903 in Warren County, Iowa, son of Henry David Shutt and Effie Jane Strawn Shutt. He was a life resident of Truro and was a farmer. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau and was affiliated with the Broadhorn Church. On July 18, 1942, he was married to Helen Boren Jones. Three children were born to this union.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Truro; son, Ivan Shutt and wife, Guenivere of Vancouver, Washington; two daughters, Elizabeth Smith and husband Larry of Truro; Bernice Bruce and husband, Mervin of Denver, Colorado; mother, Effie of Indianola; five grandchildren; two brothers, Clee Shutt of Prole; Glen Shutt of Phoenix, Arizona; and one sister, Garnett Shutt of Los Angeles, California.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother; one sister; and one step son.

Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery.
