Page 1Child Dies in Play Accident
Susan Kay Salsbury, 4 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis L. Salsbury, of St. Charles, accidentally hanged herself last Friday while playing on a slide at her home there.
The little girl had started down the play slide when a scarf she was wearing around her neck caught. Her mother found the body on the slide. Dr. Paul F. Eggleston, county medical examiner was called. He reported the child’s death had resulted from asphyxiation.
Susan Kay was born in Winterset Aug. 10, 1965, a daughter of Willis L. Salsbury, Jr. and Helen M. Hayden Salsbury. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
The little girl is survived by her parents, a brother, Willis Lee Salsbury, a sister, Peggy Norene Salsbury, her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Salsbury of Patterson, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Hayden of Lorimor.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Patterson United Methodist church.
Note: Burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.
