Orval Johnson of St. Charles Dies

Orval Johnson of St. Charles, a long-time resident of Madison county, died Monday, Aug. 11, at a nursing home in Indianola. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Johnson was born at Woodburn on Sept. 14, 1899, a son of Franklin and Ida Mae Duke Johnson. He was married at Truro on Feb. 24, 1924, to Hazel Carver, who survives him.

Mr. Johnson was a grain dealer in the St. Charles and Truro areas for many years, but was retired at the time of his death. He was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Noel of Norwalk; a son, Eugene Johnson of Des Moines; three grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters, Merle Johnson of Lacona, Harold Johnson of New Virginia, Ralph Johnson of Osceola, Mrs. Floyd Hirsch of Ankeny, Mrs. Carmen Breeding of Altoona, and Lenna Johnson of Lansing, Mich.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Jim Louk. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
