John Cord of Winterset Dies

Funeral services for John Cord of Winterset were held Monday, June 30 from Dunn’s Funeral home in Des Moines.

Mr. Cord, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died Saturday, June 28, enroute to a hospital in Des Moines. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Cord was born in Winterset, March 9, 1895, a son of Oliver and Alice Howard Cord. He was a veteran of World War I. His wife, Sarah Ethel Cord, to whom he was married in 1917, preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, John Cord, Jr. of Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters; and one great granddaughter.

Burial was made in Laurel Hill cemetery in Des Moines.
